An open project
Help us rebuild the Poble Vell (the old village) house by house
This reconstruction is an open, living project: it is not finished, and it never entirely will be. It improves every time someone recognises a house, lends a photo or describes what a street was like. The older people who lived in the Poble Vell, and their families, are the ones who can help most.
What helps us
- Photos of the village, especially of lesser-known houses and streets. A photo of a festival, a wedding or an ordinary day often shows the façades in the background, and that is enough to correct several houses.
- Memories: what a house was like, how many storeys it had, what colour it was, what was on the ground floor, where you could get through.
- Corrections: if you see something wrong in the 3D model or in a record, let us know.
- Documents and plans of the old village.
How to send it
Write to [email protected]. If it is about a particular house, give the street or the number on its record (for example, MQN-BLD-0434): every record has a link that puts it in the subject line for you.
For photos, it is enough to take a picture of them with your phone, in good light and without reflections: the original never has to leave your hands.
What we do with what you send us
- We use it to correct the model, and each house says where every piece of information comes from.
- We do not publish any photo or any name without your written permission. Whether you appear as a contributor, with or without your name, is up to you.
- Changes that come from contributions are described in Progress.
Help given freely
Emails do not always get a reply: the website is made by one person in their spare time, who reads what comes in when they can. Everything is kept and taken into account. All help is given freely, to make the website better. Thank you for your patience and your help.
Other memory projects
This website is an independent project: it is not the website of Mequinenza Town Council or of the Museos de Mequinenza. The Centro de Estudios Jesús Moncada also collects memories, documents and photos of the old village, street by street, in ‘La memòria dels carrers’. One of its sessions, on the Museos de Mequinenza website (another website)
